Smartgro Wool Matting is a fully biodegradable non-woven matting made right here in New Zealand.

The reinforced grade is strengthened with jute. Available in rolls and pre-cut squares.

FEATURES & BENEFITS:

Fully Biodegradable,unlike synthetic mattings, there is no unsightly partly degraded material to remove. Will not leave unhealthy residues. The rate of degradation is dependent on soil moisture conditions. For example if the soil is continually wet it will degrade faster. The wool matting typically takes 18 months to 2 years to totally degrade.
Suppresses weed growth for first 8 - 12 months, resulting in lower labour costs
Retains water, allows water movement through to the soil and reduces evaporation, leading to maximum benefit from irrigation and rain.
Insulates - The natural insulation properties of wool protects soil against extreme fluctuations in temperature i.e. frosts. In cold weather, wool absorbs moisture and in doing so releases heat. This helps keep the soil at a more even temperature and assists in extending the growing season.
Provides Nutrients released include nitrogen, potassium, sulphur and other trace elements.
Simply roll out the wool matting and fix firmly in place using pegs to ensure the matting won’t blow away. Or it can be overlaid with bark chips.
Muted natural colouring blends well with plants and surroundings.
Recycled wool is an abundant natural renewable resource.
