New Zealand’s largest sustainable living expo, Go Green, was held in early April and Torium took the chance to be among the action. For the weekend of 5 and 6 April, our Solara Glasshouse took centre stage at the Eventfinda Stadium in Auckland.
During the event 10,100 visitors stopped by, and many took the opportunity to visit the Torium stand to see our glasshouse in person. There was plenty of gardening chat and stories around how people would use a greenhouse in their own back yard. It was interesting to learn that many would use the space for entertaining family and friends, relaxing with a book, or as an office space. Of course growing fresh produce all year-round was a popular choice too.
Sustainable living is no passing trend and there was a real hum of positivity in the air. Visitor numbers were steady over both days, with people exploring ways to achieve a healthier lifestyle. We held a ‘Make an Offer’ on the Solara Glasshouse, with the highest offer purchasing the show model. It was encouraging to receive over 45 offers, with a top bid of $8,500.
Just to recap, the Solara Glasshouse is a combination of toughened safety glass sides and a shatterproof polycarbonate roof. The aluminium framing is a contemporary charcoal and the split door is an excellent feature. Glass has a few advantages, including longevity, clarity, easy to clean and very durable. So the combination of glass and plastic is a fantastic formula for strength, better thermal efficiency, and retaining warmth into the evening.
Finally, it was fun to participate in the Go Green major prize package with 1809 people entering their details to win an epic bundle of sustainable goodies. Squeezing a greenhouse into the hamper wasn’t feasible, but because Torium is the brainchild of PrimeHort, we were able to offer a wonderful collection of horticultural products valued at $400, including gardening tools, eco-friendly propagation pots and much more.
