In our retirement, we were growing eco-sourced native plants at home, averaging about 5,000 plants a year (by hand) and taking most of the day to get 100 done. In 2020, Mt Grace Nurseries was born and my son and his wife asked if we’d like to ramp up our operation and contract grow for local councils and contractors. To make things easier, it was suggested we look for a potting machine. We contacted Joel who’s friendly and efficient. We trusted him to find a suitable machine, which he did with great communication & ease. Wow, it was exciting to have a perfect little potting machine! In our second year we stepped it up from 20k plants to 30k. Potting is effortless now.

We have found our new Da Ros it to be exceptionally simple and fast to set up and change sizes, while the drill configuration makes it very simple to adjust planting depth and position giving a consistent quality output with little operator effort. This machine has vastly reduced downtime for setup/changeover compared to machines we have used in the past, and this with its consistency of performance and quality are causing us to seriously consider using it for our main production for the current season. It is a great machine and excellent value for money.

As we grow many pot plants from the 338 plug tray we had many hours pop out the seedling plugs with a little bamboo stick, which is quite expensive with the todays wages; so compared with not even one minute per tray the cost of the popper (its name is Ferrari because it is so fast an red) so for me it is a no brainer to have one of them.

The Display Bins have been great for us! We have 4 of them in store and they take up very little room in our showroom. They are a great way to showcase The Gardener’s great range of products at great prices.

I am sowing pelleted & bare lettuce seed. I started out doing 1 (100 cell) tray per minute.. now I can comfortably sow 2 (100 cell) trays per minute. I put in a twin cylinder compressor to operate at a consistent 6 bar pressure. I am now easily sowing 30,000 seeds per week for 2 1/2 hours of work… this includes changing seeds.
